There is a state of mind that facilitates peak performance. Athletes that learn to acheive this ideal state, often called "the zone", have a significant advantage over competitors that can not. Skills in peak performance can be learned by anyone at any age.
Basic skills that must be developed for peak performance include:
- Voluntary Relaxation; the ability to consciously calm the mind and body and increase concentration
- Mental Rehearsal; the ability to produce mental images of your own best performance
- Cognitive Repatterning; attitude enrichment - the "little voice" management
